LAKBAYAW FESTIVAL COPIES ENTIRE DINAGYANG DANCE ROUTINE / CHOREOGRAPHY FOR TWO STRAIGHT YEARS

To the Dinagyang fans' awe: I was flaming with anger and disbelief of what i saw, a contigent from Tondo, Manila is performing a cheap copy of Tribu Paghidaet's routine performed last year (2008) in Aliwan. Worse, this copycat group claims to come from a legitimate festival. Wow, imitation they say is the highest form of flattery, but copying the whole routine which is the brain child, the intellectual property of Tribu Paghidaet's choreographer is not a simple imitation, it's a theft... an art theft. This is so far the grandest art
theft I saw being showcased in the grandest festival of the Philippines.

LAKBAYAW FESTIVAL'S ROUTINE IS SO FAR THE CHEAPEST AND THE WORST FORM OF ART I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE.

THE ORIGINAL: TRIBU PAGHIDAET OF DINAGYANG FESTIVAL FROM ILOILO PERFORMING IN ALIWAN 2008

THE "ART THIEVES": TRIBU MODELIAN OF LAKBAYAW FESTIVAL FROM TONDO PERFORMING IN ALIWAN 2009

Added post: January 20, 2010, to highlight yet another act of theft!

I again would like to emphasize and point out that Tribu Modelian of Lakbayaw Festival from Tondo has committed the same theft again. The entire dance routine / choreography of Tribu Paghidaet of Dinagyang Festival which was performed in Aliwan Fiesta 2009 last year was copied / imitated and falsely-owned by Tribu Modelian. In fact, that same performace of Tribu Paghidaet in Aliwan last year was performed by Tribu Modelian, in its entirity, in the recently concluded Lakbayaw Festival 2010 in Tondo, Manila.

THE ORIGINAL PERFORMANCE BY TRIBU PAGHIDAET (DINAGYANG) IN ALIWAN FIESTA (APRIL 2009)

THE COPIED / STOLEN DANCE ROUTINE / CHOREOGRAPHY OF TRIBU MODELIAN OF LAKBAYAW FESTIVAL SHOWCASED IN THE RECENTLY CONCLUDED LAKBAYAW FESTIVAL 2010 IN TONDO, MANILA

I therefore urge you to sign the petition I made, calling the attention of the authorities in the preservation of arts & culture to sanction or penalize Tribu Modelian and Lakbayaw Festival: Tribu Modelian for blatantly copying a brainchild of Paghidaet's choreographer and for Lakbayaw Festival for allowing such act to go on in their festival.

I am completely shock and I cannot even bare to watch up to the last part of this performance. It is an exact replica of Tribu Paghidaet performance even the music it is unbelievable to see and I am so disgusted with the people behind Lakbayaw.Whoever taught this should be ashamed to call himself a "choreographer" Lakbayaw Festival,if you have official who is organizing this cultural event this shows how pinoy specifically people of TRondo are "GARAPAL" DEPERATE MANGONGOPYA! nakakahiya kayo pinopost nyo pa sa youtube. To the people behind this petition I greatly appreciate your effort to preserve Ilonggos culture and for not tolerating such inappropriate action.I'm sorry I am so disappointed with what I see in here and I can't control myself not to feel bad I do not generalize you but please Lakbayaw my last message, huwag na kayo mag festival kung mangongopya lang kayo sayang budget ng gobyerno.Dinagyang festival is held not only for tourism but to show how talented they are and they took a lot of effort to create a masterpiece samantalang kayo binababoy nyo lang. This is a waste of crap that yu are doing that needs to be put to an end.

Tondo can celebrate the feast of Sto. Nino and can have their own version of Ati-Atihan or Dinagyang it wouldn't matter. What we care about is that contingents in the Lakbayaw Festival of Tondo are blatantly copying the choreography and concept (in every single detail) of the contingents from Dinagyang Festival. Worse, they claim it as their own and even used it to compete even against Dinagyang Festival itself.

@nhoa: in the first place, sino ba ang nagsabi na ipatigil ang Lakbayaw festival? Wala nman di ba.FYI lng, we Ilonggos are very very proud of our dinagyang festival. Each one of us has its own way of showcasing our talents. We do appreciate that in one way or the other, our festival became an inspiration not only to the people of Tondo but to all the Filipinos. Kung naka register lng sa Intellectual Property Office ung choreography ng Tribu Paghidaet baka nakasuhan na choreographer ng tribe na "nanggaya".We only want to express our dismay and disappointment to whoever is responsible for this kind of "piracy" thing. The saddest part is they're claiming that it was their own choreography and concept. At some point, u may get certain ideas from the routine but not copy the whole thing. Asan ang originality nyo? We have been preserving our Ilonggo culture and the masterpieces created by our talented Ilonggo choreographers for so many years.Pawis at pagod ang puhunan nila dito so sana mahiya naman kayo para i-claim na original ung choreography nung tribe na nanggaya which is hindi nman talaga.Create your own masterpiece! Something you can be proud of..na masasabi nyo talagang sa inyo.

I am also an Ilonggo and I am dismayed that this Modelian tribe from Tondo was chosen by GMA's iWitness in one of its documentaries. And they didn't even bother to thank where they got this influences. Just watch this videos.
